The New Disney Cruise Line Itineraries We're Most Excited About

New Disney Cruise Line Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 itineraries, including Disney Wish sailings from New York.

Disney Cruise Line has released its Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 itineraries, and I have already found myself mentally packing for more than one of them. 😂

There are familiar favorites in the new release, including short Bahamian getaways and seven-night Caribbean cruises. But there are also several combinations we do not see every season: the Disney Wish from New York, the Disney Fantasy sailing to Bermuda, more cruises from San Juan, two Panama Canal crossings and a few special voyages with extra time at Disney Castaway Cay.

Not every exciting itinerary is the right choice for every traveler. A cruise can look incredible on paper and still be a poor fit for your available vacation time, budget or travel party.

So instead of repeating every sailing Disney released, here are the ones that caught our attention most, why they stand out and who should consider booking them.

The Disney Wish From New York

Disney Wish offering limited Fall 2027 cruises from New York to Bermuda, New England and Canada.

This is the headline for a reason.

After its inaugural European season, the Disney Wish will arrive in New York in late September 2027 for seven limited sailings ranging from four to seven nights.

Five cruises will visit Bermuda, including three with an extended stay. The ship will also sail to New England and Atlantic Canada during the fall season.

We are especially excited about these cruises because the Disney Wish has spent most of its career offering short Bahamian itineraries from Port Canaveral. Sailing from New York gives repeat guests a chance to experience the ship in an entirely different way.

Who should consider it?

  • Families in the Northeast who can drive or take a train to New York

  • Guests who have wanted to sail the Disney Wish but prefer more than three or four nights

  • Travelers interested in Bermuda, New England or Atlantic Canada

  • Repeat Disney cruisers looking for an unusual ship-and-destination pairing

  • Families who want to add a New York City stay before or after the cruise

What should you consider?

There are only seven departures. That limited season, combined with the popularity of the Disney Wish and the convenience of New York for many families, may create strong demand.

New York hotel costs and transportation should also be included in the complete vacation budget. Even travelers within driving distance need a realistic plan for parking, luggage and arriving at the terminal.

The Disney Fantasy's Eight-Night Bermuda Cruise

Disney Fantasy offering an eight-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Bermuda and both Disney island destinations.

The Disney Fantasy will offer an eight-night Bermuda cruise from Fort Lauderdale. This is not the ship's first visit to Bermuda. In fact, I both sailed a Bermuda & Bahamas itinerary in 2023 as well as my entire family and my son even proposed to his now wife!

This sailing also visits both of Disney Cruise Line's Bahamian island destinations: Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

What makes this sailing special is the combination. Guests receive a longer cruise, time in Bermuda and visits to both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Who should consider it?

  • Guests who love the Disney Fantasy but want a new itinerary

  • Families who prefer a longer cruise

  • Travelers interested in Bermuda who also want Disney's private-island experiences

  • Repeat cruisers who want familiar onboard spaces with different ports

What should you consider?

An eight-night cruise requires more time away from work and school. The fare may also be higher than a typical seven-night Caribbean sailing, especially if demand is strong.

For the right family, though, this may offer one of the best combinations of ship time, destination variety and Disney beach days in the entire release.

The Disney Magic Through the Panama Canal

Disney Magic sailing two 14-night Panama Canal repositioning cruises.

The Disney Magic will make two 14-night Panama Canal crossings, one eastbound and one westbound.

Each sailing will include a Disney Cruise Line maiden call. The eastbound cruise visits Fuerte Amador, serving Panama City, while the westbound itinerary calls at Colón.

These cruises immediately stand out because they are not vacations most families can repeat every year. The canal transit is part of the experience, and the longer itinerary means plenty of time to enjoy the Disney Magic between ports.

Who should consider it?

  • Experienced Disney cruisers ready for something different

  • Travelers who love sea days and onboard activities

  • Retired guests or families with flexible schedules

  • Adults sailing without children

  • Anyone who considers the Panama Canal a bucket-list experience

What should you consider?

Fourteen nights is a major commitment. Repositioning cruises may also require different arrival and departure airports, which can make airfare and transportation more complicated.

This is the kind of cruise where the complete logistics matter just as much as the fare. But for guests with the time and flexibility, it may be the most distinctive itinerary Disney released.

More Southern and Eastern Caribbean Sailings From San Juan

The Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy will both offer five- to seven-night cruises from San Juan during Fall 2027 and Spring 2028.

San Juan departures often make it possible to reach more Southern and Eastern Caribbean islands without using multiple sea days to travel from Florida. That can create a wonderfully port-intensive vacation.

Who should consider it?

  • Travelers who select a cruise primarily for its destinations

  • Guests who want to visit several Caribbean islands in one vacation

  • Families comfortable flying to Puerto Rico

  • Repeat Disney cruisers who want alternatives to Nassau and the most familiar Caribbean routes

What should you consider?

Flights and a pre-cruise hotel can add significantly to the total cost. I recommend arriving in San Juan at least one day before sailing, so that hotel night should be part of the plan from the beginning.

Guests should also look carefully at the pace. A port-intensive itinerary is exciting, but it can feel busy if your goal is to spend most of the vacation relaxing onboard.

Two Chances to Visit Disney Castaway Cay

Sometimes the exciting part of an itinerary is not a new country. Sometimes it is getting an extra day at a place you already love.

The Disney Treasure will offer a six-night Bahamian cruise with two visits to Disney Castaway Cay. The Disney Dream will also have a six-night sailing with two Castaway Cay calls.

For families who consistently name Castaway Cay as the best day of their cruise, that second visit is a very big deal.

Who should consider it?

  • Families who love beach days

  • Guests who want plenty of time for both activities and relaxation at Castaway Cay

  • Repeat Disney cruisers who already know the island is a priority

  • Travelers who prefer an island-focused vacation over a port-intensive itinerary

What should you consider?

Ports can occasionally change because of weather or operational needs. No cruise itinerary can guarantee that every scheduled call will occur.

It is also important to compare the complete sailing rather than choosing it only for the phrase "double Castaway Cay." Ship, dates, length, price and the remaining ports still need to fit your family.

The Disney Destiny From Port Canaveral

The Disney Destiny will home port at Port Canaveral for the first time in Fall 2027, offering cruises ranging from three to seven nights after beginning the season in Fort Lauderdale.

We are excited about this move because Port Canaveral makes the ship easier to pair with Walt Disney World. It also gives families more itinerary lengths to choose from aboard Disney's heroes-and-villains-themed ship.

Who should consider it?

  • Families who want a Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line vacation

  • Travelers who are specifically excited about the Disney Destiny

  • Guests who want more than a short introductory sailing

  • Central Florida residents and families who find Port Canaveral convenient

What should you consider?

Do not automatically choose a sailing only because it is on one of Disney's newest ships. Compare the itinerary, cruise length and price with the experiences your family actually values.

Some families care most about the newest restaurants and entertainment. Others would happily choose an older ship if it provides the right destinations, schedule or budget.

Two Disney Ships From San Diego

Both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will begin the Fall 2027 season sailing from San Diego, with three- to seven-night cruises to Baja and the Mexican Riviera. The Disney Wonder will continue sailing from San Diego through Spring 2028.

These may not receive as much attention as the New York announcement, but they matter tremendously for West Coast families.

Who should consider it?

  • Families living in the western United States

  • First-time cruisers interested in a shorter Disney sailing

  • Travelers who want to visit Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, Catalina Island or other regional ports

  • Guests who love Disney's classic ships

What should you consider?

The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder offer a different experience from the Wish-class ships. They are smaller, easier to navigate and beloved by many repeat cruisers, but they do not have every newer attraction or venue.

That is not a disadvantage. It is simply a different vacation style.

Holiday Cruises for Halloween and Christmas Fans

Halloween on the High Seas returns on select sailings beginning in September 2027, followed by Very Merrytime Cruises in November and December.

These cruises add seasonal character costumes, decorations, entertainment and special activities to the normal Disney Cruise Line experience.

School-break dates and holiday-adjacent sailings often attract families quickly. Anyone requiring a specific cabin type or connecting rooms should be ready early. But I would not choose a holiday cruise without also making sure the ship, itinerary and price make sense. The seasonal extras are wonderful, but they are one part of the larger vacation.

Which One Would We Choose?

The Disney Wish from New York is the itinerary combination that immediately commands attention. It is limited, different and gives families a chance to experience a familiar ship in a completely new setting.

The Disney Fantasy's eight-night Bermuda cruise may be the most balanced option for travelers who want a longer sailing, Bermuda and both Disney island stops in one vacation.

For a truly distinctive experience, the Panama Canal crossings aboard the Disney Magic are difficult to beat.

And for pure relaxation, those double-Castaway-Cay sailings are awfully tempting. 😂

Our honest answer, though, is that the most exciting sailing is the one that fits your family. A rare itinerary is not a bargain if it requires dates you cannot manage, flights you do not want or a budget that makes the vacation stressful.

The right choice begins with your travel party, available dates, preferred departure ports, budget and one very important question: Do you care more about the ship itself or the places it will take you?
